Kajol has worked in a Dushman. She has delivered a very
mature performance in Yeh Dillaggi too. However given her iconic pairing with
SRK .Bollywood defined her second innings only with comeback movies with SRK.
To be fair the pair has a legendary box office record. Ask yourself is Kajol
only about getting paired with SRK ?
Finally it has taken another production house to give her a
role which will make us see her as the actress she is ,not just the fabled
famous SRK love interest. I emphasis I have no problem with that in fact some
of those movies I have enjoyed.
Helicopter Eela is Kajol’s first full role in some years. It
is always a difficult and sometime irrational task to try and assess a movie
based on its trailer but fact is Helicopter Eela is a good trailer. It points
to a well written story of a possessive protective mother. Who has her own
loneliness to blame for it.
A son who loves his mom but is also feeling suffocated. A
very very interesting story premise that the mom lands up in the same class
same college to be with her son.
A very profound message –
love and be devoted but don’t do it to the extent that someone else
feels suffocated.
The trailer has moments of humour a necessary element to
make such a movie watchable. The most brilliant one comes in the end and is
based on how a lot of parents lie about their marks to their kids.
This one will be a good watch and Kajol finally has something
better to do in a movie that offers her stand alone limlight
